For the most part, I make this as simple as possible...
I show up at a game, shoot some photos, you review them on my SmugMug site and place the orders there directly. The photos are processed by one of several labs, you pay with a credit card, and the pictures show up a few days later.
Some teams opt to pay me a shooting fee. In most cases it is $100 per game and for that you get a 20%-25% discount on the photo prices. If your booster club, or parent group thinks they might buy a lot of photos, it is a pretty good deal. Otherwise, I usually do not require a shooting fee. I just charge more per print without it.
On occasion, I get an odd request to photograph something unusual or that might take several days. (Like an entire tournament) We can always negotiate, but something like that will typically run about $500 per ten hour day.
In most cases, if it can be photographed, I'm up for it. However... if you want to be photographed jumping out of an airplane, climbing Mt. Everest, or running with the bulls... I'm not your boy.
